The North Central Swimming & Diving program started Christmas break in style by sweeping the Marion County Championships over the weekend at Pike High School. In all the Panthers claimed five individual and relay titles and broke a pair of Pike natatorium records on their way to hard fought victories over girls runner-up Pike (344-311) and boys runner-up Franklin Central (417-395). Panthers head coach Josh Saylor was voted boys Coach of the Year.

Senior Alani Hightower led the Panther girls with a County championship in the 100 Butterfly and turned in a runner-up finish in the 200 IM. Hightower teamed with senior Emma Horton, junior Eleanor Reno and freshman Madelyn Harvey for third place in the 200 Freestyle Relay; and teamed with Harvey and juniors Lauren Diercks and Aisha Tashpulatova for fourth in the 200 Medley Relay. Diercks (100 Backstroke), Horton (200 Freestyle) and sophomore Emily Buening (500 Freestyle) turned in third place finishes in their respective events, and Diercks, Harvey, Horton and Reno finished third in the 400 Freestyle Relay. Buening (200 IM) and Horton (100 Freestyle) each added fourth place finishes in their respective events.
