Boys Varsity Swimming, Girls Varsity Swimming · Coach Saylor’s MIC Recap


The North Central Swimming & Diving Team turned in a strong showing over the weekend at the MIC Championships, with senior Peter LaBarge swimming his way to a conference title in the 50 Freestyle and the NC girls finishing as team runners-up to Carmel. The Panther boys finished fourth overall.

 

LaBarge added a runner-up finish in the 100 Freestyle to his crown in the 50 Freestyle and teamed with senior Logan Parker and juniors Tyler Diercks and Sam Nemeth to finish third in the 400 Freestyle Relay. LaBarge, Diercks, Nemeth and sophomore Michael Goetz finished fourth in the 200 Medley Relay. Nemeth teamed with senior Jacob Ruschhaupt, sophomore Brooks Hillenbrand and freshman Carsyn Christoffel to finish fifth in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Parker added an individual eighth place finish in the 200 IM, as did freshman Thomas Garrard in diving.

 

The Panther girls were runner-up in all three relay events. Senior Ashley Glesing, juniors Claudia Buddenbaum and Meggie McPherson and sophomore Alani Hightower were second in the 200 Medley Relay; Buddenbaum, Glesing, Hightower and junior Grace Lough were second in the 200 Freestyle Relay and Lough, McPherson, junior Sally Jones and sophomore Emma Horton were second in the 400 Freestyle Relay.

 

Individually, Glesing (100 Breaststroke), Isakson (500 Freestyle), Lough (50 & 100 Freestyle) and McPherson (100 Butterfly) added fourth place finishes. Hightower (200 IM), Isakson (200 Freestyle) and sophomore Emma Horton (100 Freestyle) picked up fifth place finishes. Sixth place finishes were turned in by Jones (100 Backstroke) and McPherson (100 Backstroke). Buddenbaum (50 Freestyle), Hightower (100 Butterfly), Horton (200 Freestyle) and Jones (100 Backstroke) turned in seventh place finishes. And finish eighth were Glesing (200 IM), senior Holle Guntz (100 Breaststroke) and freshman Eleanor Reno (200 & 500 Freestyle).
